Project Overview
- Location: Ocala, FL
- Service Type: Hedge Trimming
- Customer Challenge: Overgrown privacy hedges that had grown to 13-16 feet tall, creating an unmanageable and unkempt appearance. The homeowner wanted the hedges reshaped to a consistent 12-foot height while maintaining a neat and professional look.
Considerations Before Trimming
When trimming tall privacy hedges, careful planning is necessary to ensure proper regrowth. Since the goal was to achieve a uniform appearance and allow the hedges to continue filling in naturally, we implemented a strategic trimming approach. If privacy gaps had been a concern, a staggered trimming method—working on one section at a time—would have been preferable.
Project Solution
Our trimming process focused on maintaining the hedge’s health, aesthetics, and long-term growth:
- Reduced the overall height to 12 feet for a manageable and consistent appearance.
- Hand-trimmed the lower portion to establish a clean and even base.
- Used hedge trimmers above 6 feet to shape the upper sections.
- Trimmed 2-4 feet from the sides and top to maintain width and encourage healthy regrowth.
- Carefully removed all excess branches and leaves to leave a clean site for easy maintenance.
Final Results & Ongoing Maintenance
With the hedges reshaped and properly spaced, they are now healthier, easier to maintain, and provide a polished look for the property. Future maintenance will involve periodic trimming to preserve their shape and promote continued growth.
This transformation not only restored the aesthetic appeal of the property but also enhanced long-term plant health by improving airflow and sunlight exposure.
